Miss Parnell’s School (Now St Hilda’s), Principal Miss Parnell with Students, 1915
In this exhibition the Freshwater Bay Museum explored how schooling has changed over the last one hundred years in Claremont and its surrounding areas.
The western suburbs, that area of Perth that stretches from Subiaco to Fremantle, was at the forefront of education.
The exhibition was based on stories that the community has shared. It drew on the Museum’s own collection of educational artefacts as well as loaned objects (uniforms, trophies, prizes, photographs, and report cards). It recorded stories of achievement, discipline and friendship. It also provided a record of the schools that have come and gone.
